Brutal Truth..well, sort of

Kaitlin and I were looking through some old high school pictures of me and my brothers. She looks up at me, gives me a hug, and says "Mom, I love you better this way even though you're not skinny now." Oooh, ouch. It was pretty cute though.

Big Sister, Little Sister

I was downloading the new pictures onto my computer today, and I kept thinking this picture of Allison seemed really familiar. I went through Kaitlin's old pics, and came across this one when she was about Allison's age (6 weeks older I think). They actually look a lot more different than I would have thought, but still...definitely sisters.

My wedding ring

I had my ring sized up a few years ago, and have totally regretted it ever since. The baby weight from Allison is coming off, and I've noticed my ring getting looser and looser on me. Do I do anything about it...of course not. So, I was putting the stroller in the back of the Acura yesterday and look down to see a very naked finger on my left hand. I think I finally understand the feeling when your heart drops down into your toes. I yelled for Michael, and we spent the next two hours looking in every possible corner in the house (whoever decided it was a good idea to spend large amounts of money on such a small item clearly never met me!). I kept thinking "Heavenly Father answers little kids' prayers when they're looking for their CTR rings, surely that works for grown ups too." I had resorted to digging through trash cans just in case it slipped off there, and when we didn't find it in the obvious places we ended up pulling mattresses off beds, more or less cleaning out the entire car, and going through all of Kaitlin's toys. That whole "where have you been today?" is really tricky for a mom of little kids who never sits down!

Michael was really patient and just kept saying, "when did you see it last?" We did finally find it. Michael was giving me a hand massage earlier and the ring apparently had rolled off the bed, across the floor, and under the dresser.

I was so relieved. Does anyone else have a story of losing their ring? Please say yes, I'm feeling so horrible about hearly losing mine:)

Four Months Old

I remember thinking with Kaitlin that four months to ten months was probably my favorite age, and it's been so true with Allison too. She's always been fun, but her personality is really coming out and she's such a little charmer. Her smile is just magic! Couple new things she's doing:
  • Grabbing anything and everything in sight. She particularly loves hair, and I must admit it gives me a little satisfaction to see her pulling Kaitlin's hair (anyone who's been around Kaitlin can understand why:)
  • She's been so interested in our dinner, so the doc gave the ok to start rice cereal. She mostly gets it down, but she always gives us the look "um, this is NOT what you guys are eating!"
  • She's trying to roll, but gets caught on her arms and just gets mad about it. She has mastered the art of flailing and kicking and therefore can get across a bed or couch pretty quickly.
  • She jabbers non-stop, and her favorite sounds seem to be "ah" and "goo." She really looks like she means what she's saying.
  • Anything that she can get into her mouth goes, especially hers or really anyone elses hands.

Her stats: 99th percentile for height, 95th for weight, and 76th for head size. We definitely build them big at our house! I also had to laugh...the doctor said it was obvious we had lots of family close by because Allison has NO flat spots on her head. I had to ask her what she meant --apparently babies who are never put down never get that baby carrier flat spot on the back of their head. I couldn't tell if she was complimenting us or scolding us, but it made me smile.

Wahoo!

Michael has a job! I am so excited for him, and we're going to miss him at home!

Hula Girl

We're not sure where she picked this up, but we were all talking and suddenly she declared it was time to do her exercizes. It was hilarious!

LeBaron family at Austin's homecoming

It's been a while, and it was so fun to get us all together.
